2026/27 Community Partnership Grant

The New Plymouth District Council’s Community and Economic Development Team, along with the Going For Growth Committee, oversees community investments through the Community Funding Investment Policy. This policy supports funding across three key areas: Community Partnerships, Community Services and Programmes, and Community Events, all aligned with the Council’s strategic framework.

For 2026 / 2027, Community Partnership Grants are available as one-off (single-year) or as a multi-year grant of up to three years funding for organisations that provide demonstrable benefits to the New Plymouth community.

What is a Community Partnership Grant?

Community partnerships recognise social and not-for-profit organisations / services that are closely aligned with New Plymouth District Council's Strategic Framework, and with whom Council is comfortable to engage in a medium-term partnership (financial and/or otherwise). In a community partnership grant the organisation and Council Officers work closely together to achieve strategic outcomes.

Application Process

Community Partnership Grants are assessed by the Community and Economic Development Team. Applicants who demonstrate they meet the Eligibility and Application Requirements below, will have their application forwarded to the Going For Growth committee for consideration. 

Eligibility and application requirements:
In addition to the general policy eligibility, organisations need to meet all of the following criteria:
1. Has an acknowledged strategic leadership and brokerage role within their sector
2. Deliver work programmes and outcomes that have clear alignment to the Council strategic
outcomes and priorities
3. Has robust and strategic business plans in place
4. Has a strong track record of achievement within the community
5. Provides a direct benefit to the wider community
6. Has a strong and supportive board of trustees or governance type model
7. Outline how a collaborative and comprehensive partnership with Council will be achieved
8. Is up to date with financial requirements e.g. annual return

Organisations must provide evidence of how they meet the above criteria.

Applications declined for a Community Partnership Grant are automatically considered for Community Services and Programmes Grants in the same round.

All eligible applicants have the right to speak to the Going For Growth Committee about their application if they wish.   

Although not mandatory giving a deputation is encouraged.  It is an opportunity to highlight any new information that may not have been included in your application at the time of submitting, or to be present to allow the committee members to ask questions about your application if they have any. 

The Going For Growth Committee will meet to hear presentations in 4 November 2026, if this changes we will let you know.
